How to delete files from trash that are synced with iCloud on Macbook Pro?


I have a Macbook Pro (2019) with Sonoma 14.3.1 and I am unable to empty my trash or delete any files from it. Every time I try to do so, I get an error message saying that the file is in use. The files in the trash have an iCloud logo on them, which indicates that they are synced with iCloud. I suspect that this is causing the problem, as the files reappear in the trash after a few seconds of deleting them.


I have attempted the following solutions, but none of them worked:




Changing the permissions of the files


Deleting the files in safe mode


Repairing the disk in recovery mode


Moving the files out of the trash manually


Searching for a trash folder in iCloud drive
